Since 2004, South Korean fusion band 2nd Moon have been transforming the way audiences look at folk fusion—both at home and abroad. Filtering Celtic folk traditions through their jazz training, the intrepid musicians continuously incorporate new instruments like mandolin, accordion and violin to cultivate a fluid melding of sound, while their themes for popular TV soundtracks exude an epic, cinematic quality. Their 2016 release Pansori Chunhyangga features collaborations with pansori singers, their modern interpretations revamping Korea's operatic storytelling style for a younger generation.
