For more than four decades, restless rock alchemists Auktyon have defied definition and produced carefully concocted, tantalising cross-genre offerings. An unabashedly theatrical force, they emerged in the '80s from Leningrad’s explosive post-punk and new wave scenes. The band kept adding fresh ingredients to their brew with each new record, spinning their poetic lyricism around sax and trombone-laden alt-rock, avant garde jazz and folk at one turn, then fusing cello with Spanish guitar the next. Despite less frequent releases in the new millennium, captivating frontman Leonid Fedorov and his gang continued to reinvent their sound, leaving their mark on the '20s with the artful Мечты.
