Manchester’s Blossoms perfectly cross-pollinate the worlds of indie and pop. The five-piece guitar band have scored two No. 1 albums since breaking through in 2016, and continue to ride the zeitgeist in unusual ways: They headlined a pilot one-day festival at Sefton Park during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, and went viral performing the songs of The Smiths with ’80s star Rick Astley the same year. Their own cuts have enough infectious melodies to capture public imagination, too: Standouts like “I Can’t Stand It” and “Charlemagne” are filled with shiny hooks worthy of forbears such as Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.
