Formed in New York in '88, Cannibal Corpse quickly earned a reputation as one of the most extreme of the early death metal bands. The band carried thrash into darker territory, marrying its abusive sonics with horrifying imagery. The band achieved true international notoriety as their reputation grew, which led to their music being banned in a number of countries. The extremity of their approach may have shut some doors overseas, but it also led to an enduring career of nearly 30 years and 13 albums, two of which sold over 1,000,000 copies each.
