Danny Elfman began his music career fronting the '80s New Wave band Oingo Boingo. But Elfman truly found his calling when actor Paul Reubens and director Tim Burton suggested he compose the score for Pee-wee's Big Adventure in 1985. Since then, he and Burton have collaborated on most of the director's films, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and Batman. His quirky, evocative style can also be heard in the iconic theme to The Simpsons, plus a litany of other television shows and movies.
