Peter "Pit" Baumgartner’s German jazz ensemble De-Phazz brings buckets of soul, cracking samples and a real party atmosphere to their songs. Together, they can capably roll out retro-electronica or contemporary jazz one minute, followed by ambient chill-out and Latin grooves the next. Pit describes their music as a "collage"—a description that works because theirs is a feelgood kaleidoscope of a sound. Like their music, the De-Phazz lineup is ever evolving, with Barbara Lahr, Pat Appleton and Karl Frierson among the stars adding vocals to their tracks.
