Feeder have always been a wildcard. Since emerging from their native Newport, Wales, with a hard-rocking, post-grunge sound in the middle of the Britpop-dominated ‘90s, they’ve been a serious rock band with an impressive pop-singles pedigree. Frontman Grant Nicholas writes giddily infectious songs comprised of piledriver riffs, serrated hooks, and rasping angst, filling the sound with a monolithic wall of guitars like a Welsh Foo Fighters. Their effervescent 2001 breakthrough hit “Buck Rogers” even transformed top-quality surreal lyrical nonsense into genuinely heartfelt aspiration.
