Dutch-born jazz pianist Gerald Clayton has become one of the genre’s most celebrated composers and collaborators. Clayton’s academic resume suggests that much of his talent was fostered during study, having attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, USC's Thornton School of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music. The son of celebrated bassist John Clayton released his first solo disc, Two-Shade, in 2009, and since 2013 has been an integral member of Charles Lloyd’s touring band. With six Grammy nominations under his belt, Clayton has reached tremendous peaks, and in 2022, the artist released his most impactful album to date, Bells On Sand, which signaled his first with the legendary jazz imprint Blue Note.
