So many Australian bands have walked in the pointed bootsteps of Hoodoo Gurus. The Stems pick up on their sweet melodies and paisley-pop jangle, Lime Spiders crank up the slamming garage-rock stomp, and You Am I build on Dave Faulkner's wry storytelling and Brad Shepherd's windmilling guitars. Meanwhile, the band's trippier side is evident in the stoner sway of Tumbleweed and shuddering psych of Tame Impala.
