New Zealand rapper JessB is more than ready for summer to come—and she’s made a playlist to celebrate every occasion. “I feel like this can be listened to whether you're chilling in the sun with a cold one, on a road trip, or getting ready for a night out,” she told Apple Music in late 2020. “All these songs have a groove to them that makes me feel happy, so I hope this playlist lifts spirits in the same way.” Listen here and read on for more on her favorite picks. Rubi Du, “Most High” “Rubi Du is an amazing artist, friend, and big sister of mine. I have performed heaps of shows with her all over New Zealand, and this song was an unreleased track that she performed over the last couple of years at gigs. I learned all the words off by heart just by listening to her sing it on stage. This came out earlier in the year and reminds me of all the memories of touring together in the summer.” Big Zeeks & Stylo G, “Happy” “I first heard this song when it first came out, and became a fan of Big Zeeks instantly. I actually ended up meeting and creating a track for my project with him in London—called 'Work With.' When he traveled to New Zealand to play at Splore Festival in February this year, he came on stage during my set and we performed this song together. It was a cool full-circle moment.” Maleek Berry, “Been Calling” “This song is a couple of years old now. It came out in 2017 and was a song I related to at the time. I got to see Maleek perform live in London when I was there in 2018 and it was vibes. Still a goodie.” Busy Signal, “Bedroom Bully” “Most likely to be my number one requested song when my DJ and best friend Half Queen is doing a set. She probably hates me for it, but we both love this song.” JessB, “We That Filth” “Shameless promo! I think that this song from my latest release suits the laidback but still energetic vibe of this playlist.”
