At Home with Keith Urban: The Playlist
Keith Urban found himself at a creative standstill as soon as he started practicing social distancing. “I discovered that I derive too much of my artistic confidence from playing live and being in the studio,” Urban tells Apple Music. “When those two things got taken out from under me, it affected my center as a creative person.” In his interview for Apple Music’s At Home With series, the New Zealand-Australia country singer-songwriter says he’s spending his days playing his guitar, throwing live shows on Instagram, and enjoying quality family time with his wife Nicole Kidman and their kids. As he returns with the brand-new track “Polaroid,” Urban curates an exclusive Apple Music playlist of songs keeping him inspired on lockdown, picked with the help of Kidman. “There’s a few [songs] in there that I wouldn’t have connected to if she hadn’t opened the portals,” he says of this playlist, which includes boundary-pushing alternative artists (Blood Orange, Sleaford Mods), classic and vintage country/rock (Waylon Jennings, Chris Whitley), and modern pop/R&B (The Weeknd, Julia Michaels).
