Lim Jae Bum has the kind of rugged voice that makes you want to close your eyes and fill your ears with the soulful sound. He's the former singer for South Korea's first heavy metal band, Sinawe, and the melodies and instrumentation of late-‘80s rock remain a major influence on his solo music. But even as he's moved on from headbangers to ballads, his songs of love and pain maintain the power and passion of his early work—and often the same level of heavy guitar riffage.
