Tasmanian quartet Luca Brasi may be named after a savage enforcer in The Godfather, but they balance their sonic menace with an unfettered emotional range. As early as 2011's “Theme Song From HQ,” they'd welded punk power to an earnest delivery, as bassist/singer Tyler Richardson celebrated “empty bottles, full hearts and no regrets.” Luca Brasi have gone on to harness toughness and tension across careening tunes sung with raw Aussie accents. They aren't afraid to dig deep, railing against the disadvantages of socioeconomic circumstance (“Borders and Statelines”) and sending out a rallying cry to maintain the rage (“Got to Give”).
