Wettringen-born Michael Engels started as a holiday-camp entertainer, where he honed his smutty, wig-wearing persona, Mickie Krause. His breakout came in 1999 with single “Zehn Nackte Frisösen” ("Ten Naked Hairdressers"), which set the tone for his enduring career as a Partymusik purveyor. Welding the oompah of classic German beer-hall music to the twin rhythms of modern techno, he often overhauls pop classics by the likes of the Pet Shop Boys and Rod Stewart with his own inimitable confections. Celebrating booze, babes and the Bundesrepublik, his lewd lyrics are not for the easily offended.
