Nate Dogg Essentials

Nate Dogg was hip-hop's first hook specialist. A hip-hop/soul hybrid, he crooned about his gangsta pedigree—making him the perfect complement for gangsta and hardcore rappers. He paid his dues as part of 213 with Snoop Dogg and Warren G and made his industry debut on Dr. Dre's classic solo debut The Chronic. His verse on Snoop Dogg's “Ain't No Fun” is legendary. He first tasted chart success with his appearance on Warren G's “Regulate” off the Above the Rim soundtrack. Nate's career has since consisted of mostly guest appearances, despite three solo albums and one with 213. He's appeared on songs with 2Pac, Ludacris, 50 Cent, 2Pac, Jadakiss, Mos Def and Pharoahe Monch. He died in 2008 after suffering his second stroke.
