Afro-Portuguese rhythms course through the veins of Nidia’s art. For more than a decade, the dance music producer has pooled many styles to create a unique sound that has grown in popularity in Portugal’s underground and beyond. The artist, who once paid homage to a key inspiration by calling herself “Nídia Minaj”, has dropped an album every couple of years since 2015, including 2023’s 95 Mindjeres, which channels female freedom fighters.
