You can chart the rise of Cleveland-born, New York-based producer Galcher Lustwerk across a decade’s worth of his releases. With his two official albums and a slew of singles and EPs, he pretty much single-handedly revived hip-house while also making some of the 2010s' most beguiling, subdued house, techno, and beat music. But amid his catalog, one key project had conspicuously evaded official release until December 2022: his 2013 production mix of all his own tracks, aptly titled 100% Galcher. To commemorate the collection’s proper issuing, Lustwerk (who prefers to conceal his given name) assembled a set of Selects—the playlist in which DJs and producers highlight their favorite tracks of any moment—that traverses moody, emotional terrain similar to his own work. “Putting together a set 30-plus songs deep allowed me to space the mix similar to how I'd space an entire night of DJing out, without having to increase intensity as time went on,” he tells Apple Music. “This selection is a mix of home listening, my own material, and songs I'd play out in a DJ set. If you're a fan of hip-hop-influenced deep house, then this will take you some steps beyond that.” Hear all his Selects, and add any favorites to your library.
