Brooklyn-based producer Yaeji (born Kathy Yaeji Lee) has always pushed the boundaries of house and electronic pop by bringing in all sorts of other inspirations—not least of which is singing as often in Korean as in English. To commemorate the release of her proper debut LP With a Hammer, she’s assembled this set of Selects—the playlist in which DJs and producers share their favorite tracks of any given moment. In doing so, she showcases some of the music that influences her, whether that’s lost classics from Brazilian singer Marcos Valle and Japanese electro-pop experimenter Poison Girl Friend or modern jams from Kelela and Jessy Lanza. “This is a selection of music my team and I love to listen to at YaejQ—Yaeji HQ,” she tells Apple Music. “Along with music from friends, collaborators, community members, and music that brings me joy on a day-to-day.” Hear all of her Selects, and if you like something, add it to your library.
