As one of the first female artists in Jamaica's dancehall music scene, Sister Nancy helped to pave the way for a generation of women performers, including Lady Saw and Sister Carol. She was the younger sister of Brigadier Jerry, with whom she would perform in her early teens. In 1982, Nancy released her debut album, One Two, which featured her cover of Toots & The Maytals' “Bam Bam.” The song became an enduring hit and secured her place as a highly respected figure in dancehall.
