Takao Kisugi: The Songwriters

Taking cues from artists such as The Beatles and Gilbert O'Sullivan, Takao Kisugi wrote refined pop songs for blossoming female artists such as Hiroko Yakushimaru and Naoko Kawai. Drawing on styles from all over the globe, his midtempo work helped establish the sound of idol music in Japan and shaped the country's most popular songs of the ‘70s.
