Spoon may not deviate much from their formula of groove-heavy rock, but punctuated by Britt Daniel's raspy shouts, it's a sound which has made them one of America's most distinctive indie bands. Following various false starts, the Austinites eventually settled into form when they joined the Merge family in '00. Their subsequent wave of critical acclaim then culminated in a chart breakthrough with '05's Gimme Fiction, and five years later Transference propelled the group into the upper reaches of the charts.
