Since emerging in the mid-'90s as a trusted sideman of jazz trumpeter Enrico Rava, Italian pianist Stefano Bollani has let his curiosity push beyond the genre. He's a seductively lyric improviser with a gorgeous approach to ballads, his fluency informed by both pop and classical music. He's also adept at Brazilian music, exhibiting a featherlight touch on “Samba e Amor.” Still, jazz remains his bedrock, whether he's leading a dream band with Bill Frisell and Mark Turner through his own buoyant “Easy Healing” or dueting with Chick Corea on a standard like “Darn That Dream.”
