The Easybeats took pin-up looks and punchy, soul/R&B-infused pop hooks around the world. Inspired by the driving sounds of the British Invasion, this dapper Aussie quartet formed in 1964. After a string of hit singles in '65, their popularity hit a fevered pitch in their homeland. They soon relocated to England and ruled international charts with the massive pop hit “Friday On My Mind,” and toured the world with The Rolling Stones. The band splintered in '69, after more than dozen albums and compilations, and singer Stevie Wright and members Harry Vanda and George Young went on to highly successful solo careers.
