The Psychedelic Furs first got together in England in ‘77. Their self-titled debut LP broke into the UK top 20 but was greeted with apathy stateside. Their follow up, 1981's Talk Talk Talk, fared better, with one of the singles eventually inspiring the era-defining film Pretty in Pink and its massively successful soundtrack, on which the Furs were prominently featured. That appearance cemented the band's place in the new wave pantheon, and the band closed out the '80s as a constant presence atop the U.S. modern rock chart before going on hiatus in the early '90s.
