Tire le coyote: Influences
Apple Music
Though he sings largely in French, Québécois folk-rocker Benoit Pinette—a.k.a. Tire le coyote—descends directly from the anglophone singer/songwriter tradition of Neil Young (with whom he shares an unmistakable, quavering voice), Bob Dylan (who informs his character-driven storytelling), and Jeff Tweedy (who exudes a similarly off-the-cuff spirit). But Pinette also favors an atmospheric production style that evokes the expansive night-sky backdrop of a Fleet Foxes record.
