Yassin Taibi has been synonymous with an aggressive, irreverent style of Deutschrap since forming a celebrated duo with Audio88 in 2009. But Yassin’s side collabs with Enoq, Mädness and Torky Tork foreshadowed his first solo album YPSILON, which dropped a decade later—and was quite a departure. Earlier fireworks are replaced with a subdued rapping style, moody yet melodic songwriting and a downtempo, vibe-laden sound on cuts like “Abendland”, “1985” and “Meteoriten”.
