MANGOCHI HEALTHCARE FACILITIES GET 18 MILLION MALAWI KWACHA IPC SUPPLIES FROM WATERAID Following the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training organised by WaterAid Malawi in October 2024 through the Increase Gains in Nutrition by Integration, Education, Evaluation and Empowerment (IGNITE3) project, significant gaps in healthcare provisions were uncovered in Mangochi district, particularly in Nangalamu and Nankumba. The training highlighted that lack of IPC materials was severely hindering healthcare efforts in combating diseases related to Insufficient IPC knowledge and resources. While training is vital, its effectiveness is compromised without the proper tools and equipment. In response, WaterAid through the IGNITE3 project, took a swift action on 22 and 23 January 2025 to address these critical gaps by supplying the much-needed IPC materials to the affected healthcare facilities. This intervention follows a comprehensive assessment which revealed severe shortages of IPC supplies, ensuring that healthcare workers can now apply lessons of their training effectively to promote public health. Among the supplies provided are sterilising Machines, sterilising indicators, foetal scopes, handwashing buckets, disinfectant sprayers, waste management bins, liquid handwashing soap, and wheelbarrows. This support will not only empower healthcare workers but also strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system in the fight against preventable diseases. #WASHforAll #IPC #Healthcarefacilicties
