Public Safety Drone Instructor I Program Manager and Operator Specializing in Fire, Search and Rescue, and HAZMAT Response Tactics via UAS

I love working and training with #publicsafetyagencies but I really enjoy when I get to hang with fellow #hazmat guys! This time its Marion County Fire/HazMat in FL who recently purchased a Skydio X10 to support their HazMat operations. Solid team! 🚒☢️☣️ Unmanned Tactical Group

⚠️  WWYD if a hurricane wreaks havoc in your town, creating a ticking time bomb of volatile chemical vapors at a critical oil facility? Earlier this week, live from Southern Manatee Fire & Rescue’s Station 2, Firefighter/HazMat Technician and UAS Coordinator, Rich Gatanis shared how he tackled this real-world challenge after Hurricane Milton. Joined by Bryan King, together they discussed their approach to emergency response in the wake of the recent hurricanes and how they turned to drone technology to find solutions when traditional methods wouldn’t cut it. Find out what tools are game changing for rapid response, like 3D Scan to quickly map structural collapses and assess constantly changing scenes. ❤️🩹 Honoring Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orlando, Florida (𝗢𝗖𝗦𝗢) for earning the 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 award for their use of drone technology to rescue a man suffering from a mental health crisis, barricaded in a downtown Orlando high-rise hotel. This moving story, shared at #SkydioAscend, demonstrates how drones can provide crucial real-time information about what’s happening on the other side of a door. This can reduce the risk to officers on the scene, assist in coordinating a tactical response, and de-escalate the situation to protect the subject and the community. OCSO deployed Skydio X10 to see inside the 18th floor hotel room window to gain valuable intel, impossible without a drone. Knowing the individual’s location and status was critical for officers to safely break through the barricaded door, apprehend the subject, and provide medical care. Dive into more stories of how drones are making a difference in public safety and beyond: https://lnkd.in/gJHZ8R65 This story shared by Lt. Robert Branch and Michael Kleinfelt, featuring Axon Flex 2 body-worn camera footage.

    Public Safety Strategy at Skydio

Where parking garages exist, so does crime. And not just property crime. From shootings and stabbings to potentially explosive devices, I spent many hours investigating violent incidents that occurred within parking garages throughout the Las Vegas Valley. A DFR program that restricts your flight to high above a structure doesn’t help the officers who encounter suspects in these complex environments. Skydio X10 makes it easy to search these areas with extra levels of safety, providing the situational awareness you need - when and where you need it most.

Very rewarding to see our customers conducting complex missions and impactful missions like these. This weekend, LVMPD's DFR team helped first responders get a family home safely, before returning home safely to their own families. DFR changes outcomes. This is why we do what we do. 🚔 New York City Police Department has raised the standard for modern policing and the future of smart cities from the start of their drone program in 2023. NYPD has become a fully operational Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, conducting 24/7 remote operations throughout the city. From obtaining the nation’s first FAA approval of low-friction DFR operations to the robust framework that models drone operations for law enforcement agencies nationwide, the NYPD repeatedly demonstrates why it was recognized for 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 at #SkydioAscend. Thank you to Sgt. Richard Narog for sharing the NYPD DFR story with us. Take a look at the complete list of 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 winners and see how to make the list next year: https://lnkd.in/g6hXfuee

Crime doesn’t stop when it gets dark – neither should your DFR program. Equipped with 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲, Skydio X10 can easily fly in the dark or in low-light by autonomously building its surrounding environment to determine flight paths and avoid obstacles. Watch how X10 is able to sense the trees only visible on a thermal view, and navigate around them. Keep flying when it matters most. https://lnkd.in/gs2FsFJ8

Dear Alpha family, clients, partners, and friends, 2024 has been an extraordinary year for us. Every project, every flight, and every innovation has been a step forward in fulfilling our mission: 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀. Once again, we’ve proven that the synergy between cutting-edge technology and a human-centered approach is the key to making a meaningful impact in an ever-changing world. This year, we reaffirmed our commitment to 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 between manned and unmanned systems—a cornerstone for the missions of the future. We broke new ground with 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, expanding our capabilities to meet the demands of advanced military training. Additionally, we demonstrated the 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 that solidify our standing as industry leaders. None of this would have been possible without the trust of our clients, the collaboration of our partners, and, above all, the unwavering dedication of the entire Alpha team. Your hard work, creativity, and passion are the driving forces that push us to exceed limits. As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited about the new challenges, groundbreaking projects, and countless opportunities that await.
