Restoring Mexico one native tree at a time.
Sobre nosotros
Our organization, a Mexican restoration NGO, is driven by the urgent need to restore and reforest forest ecosystems with native plants in response to the emergency call of our environment. We view plant communities, human communities, and animal communities as a sustainable and interconnected whole, and our mission reflects our commitment to nurturing these communities to achieve lasting, positive impacts on the environment. Our NGO is actively involved in restoring forest ecosystems and promoting reforestation initiatives across various geographic locations, ranging from desert to mangroves. Emblematic sites such as the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary in Michoacan represent our dedication to restoring and protecting critical ecosystems. We take pride in the establishment and operation of the largest Native Nursery in North Western Mexico. Our nursery plays a pivotal role in the preservation of native plant species in the region and contributes significantly to the restoration and protection of local ecosystems. Our active involvement in the co-authoring of publications and manuals such as “Paleta Vegetal Nativa de Tijuana” and “Manual de Poda y Tala del Municipio de Tijuana” demonstrates our commitment to sharing valuable knowledge and expertise in the field of environmental restoration and reforestation. These publications serve as guides and resources for urban landscaping and promote sustainable arboricultural practices in the region. Our NGO is deeply committed to the urgent cause of environmental restoration and reforestation. As the well-loved saying goes, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best is now." This sentiment epitomizes the imperative and the immediate need for our collective efforts in restoring and protecting our planet's precious ecosystem.

Native Plants of Baja California Shine at the CEMEX 2024 Awards We are proud to announce that Mira Earth Studios, a project in collaboration with REDD of Nación Verde, located in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, has been awarded first place in the CEMEX 2024 Awards in the Collective Use Building category. This innovative design stands out for its natural and aesthetic integration into the landscape, using native vegetation that enhances and respects the ecosystem’s beauty. The project invites reflection on what we consider beautiful and how nature, with its intrinsic beauty, should be increasingly valued and recognized, both internationally and within our region. Additionally, it highlights the use of mulch as a circular economy practice, transforming organic waste into a valuable resource that benefits the environment and extends its useful life. At the 1st Biocultural Diversity Fair of the State of Mexico, the book "Árboles y arbustos útiles de Tenancingo, Malinalco y Zumpango" was presented at the Bicentennial Environmental Park in Metepec. This event, where our colleague Elinor López played a key role, was an excellent opportunity to share knowledge about the region’s flora. The book highlights species that are essential for local sustainability, many of which contribute to biodiversity and offer multiple benefits to communities. Knowing and valuing local species is crucial for the preservation of our ecosystems and the well-being of communities. #nacionverde #biodiversity #nature #sustainability #edomex

Last Friday, November 8th, we had a meeting with the Governor of Michoacán, Mtro. Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, and other state representatives to discuss the situation of Cerro Pelón, where the monarch butterfly colonies are located. This area is key for their conservation, as the butterfly migrates every year from Canada and the United States. At Nación Verde, we work alongside local communities to care for this ecosystem and conduct tours in the area to better understand the challenges it faces. We are specialists in the region and are committed to protecting this crucial habitat for the monarch butterfly. We continue working for a greener future, protecting our natural heritage. #nacionverde #monarchbutterfly #nature #conservation #michoacán

At COP16, among more than 500 presentations, Nación Verde was the only one to speak about the monarch butterfly and its fundamental role in biodiversity. This migratory icon represents the connection between ecosystems and the importance of protecting its habitat. We are proud to bring its story to an international stage and remind the world of the importance of preserving our pollinators. Would you like to join this cause? At COP16, Nación Verde presented “Guardians of the Monarch,” a reforestation project aimed at restoring the habitat of the monarch butterfly in key areas such as Michoacán, Baja California, and Sonora. The loss of these ecosystems has put the migration of this iconic species at risk, as it relies on these spaces to survive and reproduce. With the ambitious goal of planting one million trees, the project also seeks to raise environmental awareness in local communities, integrating conservation as part of their development. Through reforestation, it contributes to ecosystem regeneration and ecological balance, essential for ensuring the future of this species and regional biodiversity.
