📣 We are collaborating with Pollicy and NIYEL in order to elaborate a policy brief on "Transparency and Accountability as Trust Builders in the African Data Governance Ecosystem". The brief is going to be part of the Africa Data Governance Hub initiative. The Africa Data Governance Hub is an online platform designed to foster collaboration among data governance actors and share resources in Africa. The goal is to ensure that data governance organizations across the continent work together on complementary policy issues, advocate collaboratively, and share learning experiences. 🔹 We are interested in learning how transparency policies work in the region, exploring challenges and use cases. The audience for this survey are Civil Society Organisations, Academia and Research Institutes, Journalists, and citizens interested in the topic and working in Africa. This survey consists of 6 questions, and answering them may take approximately 15 minutes. Please fill out this questionnaire before November 25th and/or feel free to share it with your colleagues. ➡ https://lnkd.in/gSZapgKB 🔹If you have any questions regarding the questionnaire don't hesitate in contacting us.
Open Data Charter
Organizaciones comunitarias y sociales
Collaborating to open up data & respond to policy challenges: Data rights, anticorruption, pay equity & climate action.
Sobre nosotros
The Open Data Charter was founded in 2015 as a collaboration between governments and experts who came together and agreed six global principles for how to publish information. The shared aspiration was that data should be open by default, timely and interoperable. More than 90 governments and organisations have joined the movement – from the UK, Argentina and Ukraine, to the Web Foundation, Open Knowledge International and the Open Data Institute. Our goal is to embed the culture and practice of openness in governments in ways that are resilient to change and addressing policy challenges.

🧡 Coming back from a very intense week in Medellin I can now sit and reflect on the #UNWorldDataForum and the work that, as Open Data Charter, we have ahead. 🥇 First of all, congratulations to United Nations Statistics Division and Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística - DANE Colombia for an amazing event! The agenda, the venue, the overall organization, it was simply amazing! 💻 We had a great discussion on how the #GlobalDigitalCompact should be implemented in Latin America, thanks to our partners who organized this lunch discussion with us Philipp Schönrock and Gloria Guerrero. A global data governance framework is in the making and we need all the critical actors sitting at the table! 📣 Thanks to Open Data Watch and specially Shaida Badiee and Lorenz Noe for helping organize the amazing session we had with representatives from Chile, the Maldives, Botswana and Poland. There are some great examples of how to be innovative in the way of sharing data and information with citizens, journalists and CSOs so that the public value of the data that is being created can unlock its full public value via reuse. Thanks also to Renato Berrino Malaccorto who worked on this proposal from the Open Data Charter´s perspective. Olga Barquero Renata Bielak Ashiyath Shazna GRACE MPHETOLANG made some really great cases not to reinvent the wheel, there are real implementable examples all over the world. Beverley Hatcher-Mbu thanks for the amazing moderation at the roundtables space! 🌟 On the plenary session I was invited, so thankful for all the amazing partners I had. We were bold as we tried a new way of presenting, playing along with a debate exercise where we had Team A and Team B to share opposite views on the same questions about data trust, regulations and more. Yesenia Olaya Requene Roeland Beerten Dominik Rozkrut Stefaan Verhulst, PhD Priscilla Idele Cristina Velez-Valencia Shaida Badiee it was great to share ideas, confront visions and showcase how all these topics are actually intersected, don´t have one simple answer and how collaboration and dialogue is the way forward. 👉 There are a lot of conversations I had over the week about gender data, data value chains, the connection between Digital Agencies and Statistics Offices, how AI can play (or not) a role in governmental data creation, climate change data that sparked possible collaborations, new ideas. (I have million follow up mails to send 😅 ) 😎 The Open Data Charter joined the #CommitToData campaign with commitment to "Using the Open Data Charter´s Principles to promote transparent, effective and fair AI". We are glad to see how many commitments were made and we´ll be working towards the realization of ours, stay tonned! Thanks to everyone who made the Open Data Charter participation possible and looking forward to the next one! Linda Hooper Camilo Andrés Méndez and their full teams, thanks!
