Schaeffler has a lot in store – for example, self-driving vehicles in our production. 🚘 🤖 So-called AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) optimize material flows, increase process reliability and reduce sources of error in our modern Schaeffler warehouses. These driverless transport systems move materials and goods automatically using defined routes or thanks to other technologies such as sensors and software. AGVs are already in use at the company sites located in Herzogenaurach, Bühl and Halle. 🏭 The smart robots contribute to flexible and economical logistics and also enable a continuous and optimized workflow in highly complex production environments. Congratulations! 👏 Adrian Popp, Project Manager at Schaeffler Aerospace (in the Advanced Development department) in Schweinfurt, was honored with the "Global AACII Award" at the 2nd Aerospace Congress hosted by AACII Aviation Aerospace in Nuremberg. 🏆✈️ Popp received the award in the category “New Generation” for the application of additive manufacturing processes in aircraft bearings. Additively manufactured outer rings can incorporate internal cooling channels, significantly enhancing the efficiency of the bearings. As a result, conventional engines can operate with less fuel, and the systems of next-generation engines are also supported. From Industry to Classroom: Schaeffler Partners with Universities in Poland 🤝🤓 Can Employer Branding, CSR, and Sustainability work hand in hand? Definitely! One impactful way to achieve this synergy is by donating equipment to local university laboratories. Though no longer needed at our production sites, this equipment remains in excellent condition and proves invaluable for educational purposes. A recent example of such initiatives took place in Wroclaw, home to Schaeffler Global Services Europe (SGSE), where we deliver services to Schaeffler locations across Europe and beyond. SGSE has established meaningful, long-term partnerships with several prominent universities in the region, focusing on true knowledge sharing through guest lectures, competency development programs, and site tours. Last year, we supported a Lean Laboratory at Uniwersytet WSB Merito Wrocław by donating a collaborative robot (Cobot) in cooperation with the Schaeffler Special Machinery and Production Technology Center in Erlangen. This initiative aims to offer students hands-on experience and valuable insights into modern engineering practices.
