This January, Mariana Martínez Nenclares and Karla Rosado had an amazing experience at the Mid-America Camping Conference representing América Latina & Caribe and the YMCA LAC Camp Network. 👏 Their journey included visits to several YMCA camps, participation in the Conference, and a special role on an international panel showcasing the incredible work of camps in our region.🌍 Beyond gaining valuable insights into best practices, they engaged in meaningful exchanges with global delegations, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and shared learning within the YMCA movement.🥳 Experiences like these inspire us to continue fostering connections and strengthening the impact of YMCA camps in the region. 🏕️✨
This January I had the incredible opportunity to travel to the United States in collaboration with YMCA of the USA , representing YMCA América Latina & Caribe and the YMCA LAC Camp Network along side my coworker Karla Rosado! ⛺️✨During my journey, I visited Ymca Camp Miller, YMCA Camp Minikani, and Camp Tecumseh, where I got to know their facilities, programs, and the directors who lead these spaces for youth learning and development. I also had the opportunity to attend the Mid-America Camping Conference at Sherman Lake, where we explored trends and best practices in camp operations. During the conference, I had the honor of participating in an international panel, presenting the camps in our region as well as their programs. Additionally, we visited the YMCA of the USA offices in Chicago to learn more about their programs and the national impact of the organization. One of the most memorable moments was touring the Kautz Family YMCA Archives, a space that houses over 180 years of YMCA history through documents, books, and archives that reflect its global legacy. I shared this journey with seven international delegations representing YMCA Serbia, YMCA Perú, YMCA Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, and our hosts in the USA. The cultural and professional exchange with each delegation reaffirmed the importance of networking and global cooperation within the YMCA movement. 🌎🤝 I am grateful to YMCA of the USA and all the camps and professionals who welcomed us with open arms. Without a doubt, this experience motivates us to continue strengthening the Camp Network in our region and promoting the transformative impact of YMCA camps. 🏕️
