Effective attention is your choice. 💎 If you can watch a 3-hour documentary film from beginning to end in one sitting, but can´t sit through a poor-quality 20-minute corporate presentation without wanting to chew your own arm off to escape, 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁? Personally, I actively curate what gets my attention. If I MUST consume (read, watch, listen to) a piece of poor-quality content, it´s up to me to improve the quality of the experience. How can I elevate the quality of a crappy training video? 🌮 Increase the speed, usually to 1.5. 🌮 Turn on captions and read while I listen. 🌮 Take notes. 🌮 Write questions for a Q&A study guide, even though I will probably never use it. 🌮 Get an AI to write a summary. 🌮 Write PPT slides as if I were going to create a version of the training for other people. I don´t have to accept the content as a complete experience. In fact, I rarely do. I add what works for me. But it´s up to me to know how I learn and to do something about it. 𝗗𝗼𝗻´𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Want to improve your "ADHD"? Maybe admit that you have higher standards for media content quality than you want to admit and be choosier about how you spend your attention. Maybe admit that your mind runs faster than the milquetoast content you've been trying to force-feed it. That's good news.
