This year, Malaysia takes lead as the Chair of ASEAN and the summit is part of the initiative to bring together thought leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the future of banking and take stock of how the banking and financial industry can be transformed by prioritising the 3Ts - Technology, Talent and Trust. Themed "Transforming Banking and Advancing Sustainability", the summit explored key themes and driving factors in promoting banks and financial institutions as key partners in ASEAN economic integration, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and insights, discussing how ASEAN banks and financial institutions can accelerate financial innovations and be future ready, driving sustainable banking and climate finance, and exploring on generative AI, while learning from digital banks and fintechs across ASEAN. Our CEO also shared valuable insights with the audience during the Leadership Panel - Governance and Transformation : Future Proof Banks, alongside fellow panelists; TAB Tunku Dato' Ahmad Burhanuddin, Independent Non-Executive Director of Bank Rakyat; Tan Sri Dato' Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council; Tan Sri Dr. Munir Majid, President of the ASEAN Business Club; and the moderator, Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal Rawther, Chairman of the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur. At the recent AIA Shared Services OSS Better Together Vibes 2.0, AEON Bank's Chief Risk Officer, Kirenjeet Kaur, took centre stage at AlAs Cyberjaya office to deliver an engaging and insightful session on "Smart Moves to Outsmart Scammers: Your Guide to Fraud Prevention in the Digital Age." With fraud becoming more sophisticated, Kiren's session provided a comprehensive guide to recognising red flags, understanding scam tactics, and staying ahead of cybercriminals. She explored the evolving fraud landscape through real-world statistics, psychological insights, and case studies, equipping attendees with practical strategies to safeguard themselves and their organisations in an increasingly digital world. One of the most thought-provoking moments of the session was the case study on the AEON Bank CEO Whaling Attack; a real-world example that underscored the sophistication of modern scams and the importance of proactive defences. Kiren also highlighted the role of financial institutions in fraud prevention and how AEON Bank is committed to safeguarding its customers.     🔒 Mobile Security Platform (MSP) Shielding Technology - Enhancing Digital Banking Security for Our Customers 🔒 Customers' data protection, app security and seamless customer experience are our foremost focus when it comes to mobile digital banking. Aligned with that commitment, AEON Bank has enhanced our security features by introducing the Mobile Security Platform (MSP), an advanced form of shielding technology for our mobile app. The MSP shielding technology is programmed to continuously monitors potential threats and malware, taking proactive measures to safeguard the integrity of its digital banking app. If a device is detected as compromised — whether due to jailbreaking, rooting, library modification, runtime tampering, and any application modification from the original factory setting that bypasses security restrictions — the user will be notified and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled. This security measure is implemented to prevent data theft, security breaches and risk of unauthorised access. Through this feature, AEON Bank does not collect, process, or store any personal information from customers' devices. The multi-layered approach enables the following protection: ⚠️ Threat Detection and Notification: If a device is detected as jailbroken or rooted, customers will receive an in-app security alert, and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily disabled to prevent potential breaches. ⚠️Guided Resolution: Customers can restore access by removing the detected security threats or adjusting their device settings. For enhanced security, resetting the device to factory settings is also recommended. Customers should back-up their phone’s data before doing so. ⚠️Secure Re-access: Once the issue is resolved, users can relaunch or reinstall the AEON Bank app to resume secure banking services. 💡 Customers should also take the extra steps to stay secure: - Regularly review app permissions on your device - Monitor data usage and phone bills for unusual activity - Check your account balance and bank statement frequently - report suspicious activity immediately to AEON Bank's Customer Support AEON Bank is committed in our mission to provide Malaysians with a secure, accessible and Shariah-compliant digital banking experience.     For AEON Bank, the recent Lunar New Year season was extra meaningful thanks to the AEON Mesra - CSR community engagement organised by AEON Foundation. AEON Bank volunteers - including our Deputy CEO, Tsutomu Kamagata, participated in the AEON Foundations' AEON Mesra Programme on 8 February 2025 at Zoo Negara - sparking joy through a special engagement with 80 children from two local charities. Volunteers from all the organisations under the AEON Group accompanied the children to explore the wonders of the zoo, while learning about wildlife and nature in a fun and interactive way. Bravo to AEON Foundation for their ongoing effort in making an impact on the community. Seeing the smiles on children's faces during the activity made it all the more special.   • Thank you to IslamicFinance360 Monthly Shariah Webinar for inviting AEON Bank's Chairman of the Shariah Committee and Board Member, Ustaz Wan Rumaizi Wan Husin to kickoff their 2025 first edition webinar, organised by Bank Rakyat Malaysia, INCEIF University, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and DRCIB. The webinar took place on 23 January 2025 and served as a platform for dynamic discussions on the intersection of technology and Islamic finance. Moderated by by Aizuddin Othman from INCEIF University, Ustaz Wan Rumaizi navigated the challenging the topic of "Al, Big Data, and Islamic Finance: A Shariah Perspective", providing his insights on ethical management of data acquisition, principles of consent, privacy and agreement across various data types, while emphasising the importance of aligning Al and technologies such as HDFS and Spark with the Maqasid Shariah's focus on fund protection. Ustaz Wan also outlined the key Shariah principles for ethical data analysis and visualisation, such as transparency, purposeful use, inclusivity, accountability, and privacy protection, ensuring compliance with Shariah values. On top of that, the webinar highlighted the benefits of data-driven decision-making, from real-time insights to customised reporting and strategic planning. The session was concluded with an interactive Q&A segment with audience from a diverse areas of Islamic finance field.
