It’s been an exciting week for us! We were honored to have Dr. Che Fai Yeong invited as a panelist at the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention 2024 (SDEC) to discuss “The Impact of AI on Industries: A Deep Dive.” Joining him on the panel were EnJun Choong (Huawei) and Tareq Aljaber (Averroes), with Dr. Hock Woon Hon (MIMOS) skillfully moderating the session. Held on 17 October 2024 at the KLCC Convention Center, the session provided a comprehensive exploration of current AI trends and their impact on industries. Dr. Yeong emphasized the critical need to use AI & Robotics to solve real-world problems, rather than adopting it for the sake of novelty. He also noted that AI’s role has expanded beyond just ROI considerations to encompass ESG factors, which are increasingly important in today’s world. Drawing from his extensive experience, Dr. Yeong advised businesses to start small, focus on measurable impact, and scale up gradually, as implementing AI and robotics can be a significant investment. We are honoured that our CEO, Dr. Che Fai Yeong, was invited to be one of the panelists in the panel session on the topic "Global Semiconductor Outlook" at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Semiconductor Summit & Expo (APSSE) in Penang on 16th October 2024. The panel includes Dato' Seri Wong Siew Hai (President, MSIA), Nancy Greco (IBM), Shivaji Das (Frost & Sullivan), Yaojian Lin (AMD), and Desmond Hor (Jiangsu Leaptap Semiconductor). During the panel session, Dr. Yeong shared three key points from DF's perspective: - The manufacturing of semiconductors continues to evolve, from small wafers to larger 300mm wafers, and even up to 450mm. Initially, wafers were round, but now some are produced in square shapes. As a robotics company, we help facilitate the transport of wafers from one process to another, requiring flexibility and innovation to handle the ever-changing and improving processes. - From Dr. Yeong's recent visit to Tokyo, it was observed that the semiconductor industry is not only racing to manufacture the largest wafers but also smaller ones, in a concept known as "minifab."
