Malaysia is set to launch its own national Remote Sensing Satellite within the next two to three years, marking a major milestone in our space technology journey!
The project, which is already in development, will enhance our capabilities in disaster management, environmental monitoring, and national security, reducing reliance on foreign satellite data. At the same time, discussions are underway with the private sector as several states explore the feasibility of establishing a launch vehicle complex facility—a move that could position Malaysia as a key player in the regional space industry.
Adding to the momentum, Uzma Berhad successfully launched UzmaSAT, a high-resolution Earth observation satellite, in January 2025, showcasing the private sector’s growing role in pioneering high-tech industries. This reflects Malaysia’s commitment to fostering public-private collaborations to drive technological advancements and unlock new economic opportunities.
With the Malaysian Space Board Act 2022 (Act 834) now fully in effect, we are strengthening our regulatory framework to govern space activities while preparing new policies to further develop the sector.
The future of Malaysia’s space industry is bright, and we are ready to propel our nation to new heights!
