At the World Economic Forum's "Building Trust in Digital Governance" session with H.E. Mohammed bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services of the UAE and Öykü Isik, Professor of Digital Strategy and Cybersecurity at IMD. The session explored how governments can build and maintain trust in digital services through ethical practices and digital resilience. The discussion covered the challenges of disruptive technologies and practical insights from pioneer efforts in digitising government services. I emphasised the importance of building an ecosystem to strengthen Malaysia's computing infrastructure, highlighting the various investments in data centres by hyperscalers. In order for that ecosystem to work well, public trust in the infrastructure is crucial. Throughout last year, the Ministry of Digital focused on building digital trust through legislation such as the Cybersecurity Act 2024; amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, and passing the Data Sharing Bill in Malaysia — in order to ensure a safe and secure digital environment for all. #WEF25 #AIMalaysia #GovTech

I had a robust discussion with Ms. Gong Ying Ying, the distinguished Chairlady of the Board and visionary Founder of Yidu Tech Inc. Building on the comprehensive Country Strategy Dialogue presented by YAB PM Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the World Economic Forum in Davos, we engaged in an in-depth conversation about leveraging advanced data analytics to develop innovative digital and artificial intelligence solutions. These cutting-edge technologies would serve multiple crucial objectives: significantly reducing the daily workload burden on healthcare professionals, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of patient care delivery, and ultimately achieving substantial reductions in overall healthcare system costs. #WEF25 #AIMalaysia #Healthcare

👨🏭 👩🏭 The workforce landscape is transforming at an unprecedented pace: 23% of jobs expected to change by 2027, 44% of today's skills becoming irrelevant, and 60% of employers facing skills shortages. 📕 A recent Impact Study by TalentCorp shows that about 620,000 jobs across 10 critical sectors in Malaysia will face significant changes in the next 3–5 years, highlighting the pressing need for workforce reskilling and upskilling. Ministry of Digital will work closely with the Ministry of Human Resources, led by YB Steven Sim to ensure that all Malaysians have equal access to upskilling and reskilling opportunities. 🟥 During the high-level session at World Economic Forum's ‘Reskilling Revolution: Skills and Productivity in the Age of AI’ with Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization; and Mr. Ilan Goldfajn, President of The Inter-American Development Bank, we discussed these pressing workforce challenges. I emphasised the critical role of governments in leading initiatives to protect livelihoods from AI's disruptive effects. I stressed that a targeted and nuanced approach is necessary to fully understand how AI impacts jobs and to develop talent initiatives that effectively address future workforce needs. It's time for governments, organisations, and individuals to work together to prepare our workforce for the digital era. 🔴 🇲🇾 What do you think we need to do - as the government and as individuals - to address the future workforce needs? #WEF25 #AIMalaysia #Talent #MalaysiaMADANI

It's truly an honour that our Ministry's importance in its first year is recognised for its efforts in advancing digital transformation across developing nations. Several key topics have been discussed so far, primarily focusing on AI Safety and cybersecurity. The discussions emphasised cyber resilience as our data dependence grows, alongside the critical need to upskill and reskill talent for future challenges. I spoke at the session "Cutting Through Cybercomplexity" moderated by Katie Drummond, Global Editorial Director, Wired Magazine. Part of this distinguished panel were: 1. Oscar López, Minister for Digital Transformation and Civil Service of Spain; 2. Hoda Al Khzaimi, Director, Centre for Cybersecurity, New York University, Abu Dhabi; 3. #WEF25: Cutting Through Cybercomplexity 🔴 🇲🇾 Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo outlines Malaysia's initiatives to build digital trust and strengthen cyber resilience:  🟥 I think we have to acknowledge the fact that technology is going very quickly and there is a push on the part of most governments to ensure that people adapt and adopt to what's new. It ultimately comes back to stability and trust. If there is trust, then you will see greater levels of adoption, and I think that is what we're trying to achieve as we go along, not just in our local jurisdictions, but also working with partners regionally and subsequently looking at things from a broader perspective globally. 🟥 What we have done in March last year. We have tabled a Cybersecurity Bill in Parliament, it's now a cybersecurity act that specifically requires the national critical information infrastructure (NCII) to ensure that they have cybersecurity measures and standards in place in the agencies, in the organisations. And if they don't, then there are repercussions for that. In addition to that, we've also looked at how we can define what cybersecurity experts really are. From a government perspective, I think there's a need for us to see how it is we can ensure that we set those basic standards. 🟥 In December last year we did something I think a bit novel. We introduced a Data Sharing legislation: the entire process which there is a request for data, subsequently how it's managed, and if that request is allowed, then there's a process that has to be followed for the flow of that data-sharing mechanism. And now, of course, it's a question of us executing and moving along while trying to build an ecosystem where we can actually build trust. And I think that's something that's important, because when we speak about cybersecurity, particularly in Malaysia, we look at it also from an ASEAN perspective.
