YAYASAN HASANAH AND SCENIC SIGN COLLABORATION AGREEMENT Kota Kinabalu, 24 September 2024 – Sabah’s social entrepreneurship sector advanced with a Collaboration Agreement between Yayasan Hasanah and Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) at SEMAI Summit Sabah 2024. SCENIC CEO Viviantie Sarjuni and Yayasan Hasanah’s Social Enterprise Manager Maslinda Abdul Talib signed the agreement, witnessed by KSTI Permanent Secretary Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Mohd Kassim. This collaboration includes a RM500,000 grant to support 10 Sabahan social enterprises, with SCENIC overseeing grant distribution and mentorship. The initiative aims to foster social and economic growth in Sabah. The SEMAI Summit, held from 24-25 September, was organized by PurpoSE Malaysia, CSED Malaysia, and SCENIC, with support from various strategic partners, including KSTI and the Sabah Tourism Board. Keynote speaker Datuk Mohd Hanafiah emphasized the ministry’s commitment to social entrepreneurship, highlighting its role in economic and social responsibility. SCENIC’s CEO underscored the partnership's importance in combating poverty and driving impact in Sabah. The summit also previewed a 2025 coffee table book, “Social Enterprise Sabah,” featuring 10 Sabahan social enterprises. We had an amazing crowd at the MDV Funding Clinic Session in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah last week! The event, organised in collaboration with Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia (PUMM) Sabah State Liaison, Department of Industrial Development and Research (DiDR), Sabah Creative Economy & Innovation Centre (SCENIC), Kementerian Sains Teknologi Kementerian Sains Teknologi & Inovasi Sabah (KSTI), TERAJU, and the Federation Of Sabah Industries (FSI), aimed to provide funding insights for growth opportunities. The session attracted more than 40 companies from Sabah, spanning diverse backgrounds including agritech, tech startups, tourism, green tech, and creative industries.
