🇲🇾 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒! 🧬 Organized by the Precision Medicine and Scientific Wellness (PMedS) Association and co-organized by the Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA), this landmark event brought together international experts in the field of Pharmacogenomics. We were honoured to have Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, President of England’s Association of Physicians, deliver the keynote address. He provided a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of Pharmacogenomics in England from his experience in the NHS and shared prospects for its application in Asia through various case studies. On behalf of PMedS, we were also privileged to have the summit officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan, Director-General of Health of Malaysia. To celebrate and witness this amazing moment, the organizing committee chairperson, Prof. Dr. Tan Geok Chin, and co-organizing committee chairperson, Dr. Muruga Raj, presented the initiation award to YBhg. Datuk Dr. Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan. It is crucial to understand the disease's complexities and how emerging fields like pharmacogenomics can enhance treatment outcomes. Recent studies have highlighted the role of genetic predispositions in pneumonia susceptibility. For instance, variations in the CYP1A1 gene, which is involved in pulmonary inflammation, have been linked to increased risk for pneumonia. Specific single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within this gene can alter its expression and contribute to the pathogenesis of pneumonia by affecting inflammatory responses in the lungs (Zhao et al., 2017). As we observe World Pneumonia Day, it is essential to recognize the impact of genetic factors on pneumonia risk and treatment response.
