We may find several ayahs in the Qur’an telling us about ‘river’ or ‘rivers’. For instance in 2:249, the word بِنَهَرٍ was mentioned when Saul warned his soldiers that Allah will be testing them with a river. By learning the Arabic language, we could envision the scenario better. In 2:25, Allah was giving good tidings to believers & those with righteous deeds. Abodes with gardens with rivers flowing beneath. If we thought the fictitious Planet Naboo in Star Wars was a wondrous place, the Jannahs with flowing rivers underneath the gardens will be infinitely breathtaking and a place which everyone yearns to be at. Islam is a complete religion and is a way of life. Solutions on how to face difficulties or how to exhibit our gratefulness are taught in the Deen. Allah has promised us, when we are grateful, He will provide us with more, like a gushing river. On the other hand, He reminds us that being ungrateful is a huge sin. Allah is Al-Adl (The Most Just) and we are being given choices. Allah SWT takes care of all His creations. If bees can follow Allah’s directive to create homes for themselves, we too, should use our allocated provisions to live in a house that is good and secure so that we may enjoy the life of this world and perform our ibadah properly. Nafi' ibn al-Harith reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Part of a man's happiness is a spacious dwelling, a good neighbour, and a good mount." (Sahih Al-Albani) Spacious dwelling could also be seen as a house that is void of unnecessary clutter. When was the last time we remove from house things that no longer serve their purposes or bringing benefits to us and our families?
