Recently, #TalentCorp’s Group CEO, Thomas Mathew, participated as a panellist at the graduation of PayNet (Payments Network Malaysia)’s inaugural Programme Akar, powered by #AWS re/Start. Thomas Mathew joined esteemed industry leaders, including Farhan Ahmad (Group CEO of PayNet), Peter Murray (Country Manager, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Malaysia), and Datuk (Dr.) Nora A Manaf (Former Group Chief Human Capital Officer, Maybank), in a panel discussion titled “Future-Proofing the Industry: Values-Based Early Talent Development of Visionary Leaders.” The session highlighted the importance of integrating technical skills with core values such as integrity, resilience, and leadership to nurture Malaysia’s next generation of visionary leaders. This groundbreaking programme, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), has successfully equipped 50 students with globally recognised AWS Cloud Practitioner Certifications, practical experience in digital payments, and mentorship from top Financial Services Industry (FSI) organisations. With the next cohort launching in Q1 2025, Programme Akar remains a vital initiative in addressing Malaysia’s talent needs for the digital economy. TalentCorp and its subsidiary, the Malaysia Expatriate Services Centre (MYXpats), hosted the MYXpats Networking and Appreciation Dinner 2024, bringing together over 200 distinguished representatives from ministries, government agencies, industries, and international business chambers. The event celebrated the partnerships and collaborations that have strengthened Malaysia’s expatriate management ecosystem. Special recognition was given to the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), and 29 other key agencies instrumental in the success of the Xpats Gateway platform. YB Wong Shu Qi, Chairperson of TalentCorp, representing YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of Human Resources (KESUMA), underscored the importance of innovative reforms to enhance Malaysia’s appeal to global talent and investors. Our Group CEO, Thomas Mathew, highlighted the significant contributions of expatriates to Malaysia’s economy, noting that the MYXpats Centre has successfully processed over 650,000 Employment and Professional Visit Passes—ensuring global talent continues to complement and strengthen the Malaysian workforce. These sessions provided an opportunity to share TalentCorp’s mission and introduce key national initiatives supporting Malaysians worldwide. 💡 What We Shared: MyHeart Portal: A dedicated platform for Malaysians moving, studying, living, or returning from abroad, designed to foster stronger ties within the community. #TalentCorp recently formalised its collaboration with Innovative University College (IUC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently at TalentCorp HQ. This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to developing future-ready talent and fostering academia-industry synergies. This MoU highlights IUC's plan to utilise TalentCorp’s MyNext initiative to enhance their students' soft skills and expand internship opportunities. Through initiatives like MySIP and LiKES, TalentCorp will connect IUC students with industry partners, providing hands-on experiences and valuable career exposure. Professor Emeritus Dato’ Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Bin Ishak, Vice-Chancellor of IUC, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership, highlighting the importance of student development and collaboration in talent solutions. As Chairman of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Malaysian Chapter, he also extended an invitation to TalentCorp to collaborate on talent development initiatives at the national level.
