On World Diabetes Day, let’s rethink healthcare. Too often, we lean on pills to manage our health, giving power to medication instead of reclaiming it ourselves. By addressing lifestyle – the root of chronic diseases – we regain control over our well-being. Let’s shift from disease care to true healthcare and take steps that empower us for life. 🌎💙 #WorldDiabetesDay #LifestyleMedicine

𝗜𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀? 🧠🍽 At The Lagom Clinique, we know that gut health is more than just digestion—it’s also key to managing cravings and overall well-being. Did you know your gut microbiome—the trillions of microorganisms living inside you—can influence the foods you crave? Inside your gut, a silent battle is happening between helpful and opportunistic bacteria. Let’s picture their conversation: 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆: “Let’s go for some fibre—whole grains, fruits, and veggies. It’ll keep you strong and healthy.” 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲: “Fibre? Nah. How about cake or fried snacks? A sugar rush will feel amazing!” 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆: “Sure, sugar gives a quick boost, but long-term it’ll slow you down. Stick with us, and we’ll keep your immune system and gut balanced.” 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲: “One bite won’t hurt! But soon, you’ll crave more, and I’ll take charge!” This “war” impacts your cravings, making unhealthy foods more tempting. But you can regain control. Here’s how: - Be Mindful: Recognize your cravings and what triggers them. - Substitute Smartly: Swap sugary snacks for fresh fruits like strawberries 🍓. - Support Your Good Bacteria: Add prebiotics (garlic, onions) and probiotics (yogurt, kimchi) to your diet. At The Lagom Clinique, we specialize in helping individuals and businesses improve health through personalized wellness programs. From gut health to mental well-being, our approach is rooted in lifestyle medicine, helping you take back control. Ready to support your health or your team's well-being? Let’s connect to discuss how we can help you thrive! #guthealth #lifestylemedicine #corporatewellness

One of the most significant changes has been the shift towards more flexible working conditions, such as remote work. While this shift offers many benefits—like increased flexibility—it has also blurred the lines between personal and professional life, often leading to more sedentary behaviour. 𝗜𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹? With many of us spending more time at our desks, it’s crucial to recognize the impact that prolonged sitting can have on our health. But the good news is that even small adjustments to our daily routines can make a significant difference. Here are a few simple ways to add more movement into your workday: - Take brief, brisk walks every hour to boost circulation. - Incorporate stretches during breaks to relieve tension. - Stand and move around during virtual meetings or phone calls. By taking small, intentional steps, we can prioritise our well-being even in a more sedentary work environment. Let’s make movement part of our new normal! #StartMoving #workplacewellness #thelagomclinique Picture credits: Desk yoga for shoulders, back, and Neck Healthcare Professional Edition Chair Yoga 8X8 in, 8x10 in, 16x16 in - Etsy Ireland. We recently had the pleasure of partnering with Eco World Development Group Berhad for their Wholesome Wellness Day, an event dedicated to promoting holistic well-being. This World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a reminder of the profound impact that a single conversation, a moment of compassion, or a shared experience can have on someone who is struggling. Mental health is a journey we all walk, and for some, the path can feel overwhelmingly lonely. But it doesn’t have to be. At The Lagom Clinique, we’ve seen firsthand the difference that community, understanding, and professional support can make in someone’s life. It’s about creating spaces where people feel safe to open up, where stigma is left at the door, and where every individual knows they are valued. Today, let’s take a moment to reach out—to a friend, a colleague, or even a stranger. Ask how they’re doing, listen without judgement, and let them know they matter. These small actions can be the lifeline someone needs. Suicide prevention is a collective responsibility. Together, we can break the silence, end the stigma, and create a world where every person feels seen, heard, and supported. Remember, you are never alone. Help is always within reach, and it starts with us. Let’s make today and every day about kindness, connection, and hope. 💛 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealthMatters #YouMatter

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵? Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based approach that focuses on comprehensive lifestyle changes to prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic diseases by addressing their root cause. There are six core pillars of lifestyle medicine or 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝗦'𝘀, as we call it here at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲; 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽, 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. Though seemingly simple, these pillars are incredibly powerful. Small modifications in these areas can make a huge difference in our health. Noncommunicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and heart disease are significant health burdens in our country, largely driven by lifestyle factors. Remarkably, addressing these six pillars can be as effective as medication. Additionally, diet, sleep, and physical activity play crucial roles in the prevention, progression, and treatment of mental health issues like depression and anxiety. In the midst of our busy lives, we often forget that we have the power to choose better for ourselves. Remember, it’s not just about one dimension or one thing; we are each a whole person. So, what are you grateful for today?💙

During our recent lifestyle medicine experiential program, I posed a simple yet profound question to the participants: What are you grateful for? It’s easy to rush through life without pausing to reflect on this, but the benefits of practicing gratitude are far-reaching. Research shows that regularly acknowledging the things we’re thankful for can significantly improve both our mental and physical health. In our session, we delved into the science behind gratitude and discovered how this simple practice can lead to a happier, healthier life. The participation from employees was heartening and they left our program equipped with the tools to make gratitude a daily habit. This experience reinforced a powerful lesson for me as well: by making time to reflect on what we’re grateful for, we’re not just enriching our own lives, but also creating a ripple effect that can inspire and uplift those around us. So, what are you grateful for today? 🧡 #gratitude #lifestylemedicine #bridgingmindandbody #organisationalhealth

A year ago, when I started our Walk With A Doctor series, my goal was to empower individuals with knowledge and foster a community where healthy habits and strong bonds are nurtured. Last Saturday's Walk With A Doctor was all about exploring the gut-brain connection! 🧠💪As we delved into how our gut health impacts our mental well-being, we also explored the powerful combination of exercise and diet—a dynamic duo that supports our overall wellness. Witnessing the incredible dedication and enthusiasm of our participants reaffirmed why I started this program and the profound impact of lifestyle medicine. Your commitment to healthier living and engaging in this transformative journey was truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported our mission to promote better health. Together, we’re making meaningful strides toward a healthier future!
