After overcoming some health challenges, I am back with renewed focus to continue my advocacy gigs! Alhamdullillah. Last week, I had the honour of delivering two key sessions on competition law: 📌Simposium Tadbir Urus Korporat Kumpulan MBI 2024 On December 4, I addressed over 200 attendees on the topic of bid rigging, a critical issue that undermines trust and drains valuable resources from both government and corporate funds. I emphasized the various forms of bid rigging and shared actionable insights to help organizations detect and prevent such malpractice. I sincerely hope participants are left with a heightened awareness of the dangers of bid rigging and a commitment to safeguarding fair competition. 📌DRB-HICOM Legal Event – Competition Act 2010 On December 5, I had a fruitful 3-hour session with representatives from various subsidiaries under DRB-HICOM. The discussion covered anti-competitive agreements, abuse of dominant position, and the upcoming merger control regime. It was a privilege to introduce the audience to the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) and highlight the growing importance of competition law in shaping fair market practices and driving economic growth. I am truly heartened to see increasing awareness and engagement on competition law in Malaysia. The intersection of economics and law in this field makes it a powerful tool for promoting efficiency and equity in our markets.

It has been an incredible honor to host and collaborate on two significant initiatives in Kuala Lumpur: the Validation Workshop for the Merger Information Sharing Portal (MISP) and the Validation Workshop for the ASEAN Competition Action Plan (ACAP) 2030, co-hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat and supported by GIZ. The MISP workshop showcased groundbreaking steps towards strengthening regional merger control frameworks. This innovative portal will enable seamless information sharing, improve enforcement capabilities and encourage cross-border cooperation. Meanwhile, the ACAP 2030 workshop laid the foundation for the next phase of ASEAN’s competition policy. Building on the successes of ACAP 2025, we worked together to map out actionable steps to ensure fair competition and enhance economic resilience across the region. A heartfelt thank you to all delegates and speakers for your invaluable insights and support. Together, we are shaping a future defined by fairer markets and stronger regional collaboration.

MyCC is expanding its horizons. After a productive visit to Turkey last September, we’re now headed to Russia. Driven by the pursuit of knowledge, we’ll go wherever for the sake and welfare of our consumers. With that being said, I have just arrived in Moscow—this vibrant city in a country of immense natural splendour. Truly, it’s a chance of a lifetime to be invited here! I’m honored to speak in two separate sessions at the IX Annual International Conference “Antimonopoly Policy: Science, Practice, Education,” held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow on November 14-15, 2024. I’ll be presenting on “Prospects of Competition Policy Development in Modern Conditions” and “Antimonopoly Control in Food Markets.” Wish me luck—пожелай мне удачи! 👋
