While the annual Sustainable Oil Palm Study Journey was taking place in Chumphon, the JaSPON (Japan Sustainable Palm Oil Network) group embarked on a parallel study journey in Kampar. JaSPON, a collective of Japanese companies and organisations, is dedicated to promoting sustainable palm oil production and consumption in Japan. Their visit focused on engaging with smallholder farms to gain firsthand insight into upstream sustainable palm oil practices. In addition to visiting RSPO-certified smallholder farms, their itinerary included stops at non-RSPO certified farms, a trip to Salu Waterfall to explore the forest reserve, and an authentic meal at a local farmer's home.
