Bank Negara Malaysia has announced the liberalisation of foreign exchange control rules for Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and Development Financial Institutions (DFIs). With the easing of the rules, MDBs and DFIs can now borrow in Ringgit by issuing Ringgit debt securities (both conventional bonds and Islamic sukuks) and provide Ringgit financing to Malaysian residents. In an effort to enhance transparency and accountability within limited liability partnerships, amendments to the Limited Liability Partnership Act 2012 have been introduced, though they have yet to come into effect. These changes signify a promising shift towards improved governance for limited liability partnerships. In this article, Chan Xian Ai and Ellesya Myra Faredz Mohamad Redza of Zaid Ibrahim & Co (in association with KPMG Law) will be discussing on the two most pertinent amendments to the Limited Liability Partnership Act 2012, the introduction of the beneficial ownership reporting and disclosure framework and corporate voluntary arrangement and judicial management.
