Our daughters wedding Our daughter chose the plantation as her wedding venue, because of its peaceful setting and the outdoor area is truly beautiful. However since making her choice, the venue changed hands and the new Russian owner became increasingly difficult to work with. He would not answer emails, saying “send me a WhatsApp, I will answer then” Constant staff changes meant they had to have food tasting several times until finally after pushing for answers, six weeks before the wedding, he informed them that the Plantacion no longer operated as a restaurant and we would have to get our own caterers. The stunts Alexsy (the owner) pulled at the last minute were unbelievable. Of course we had a contract in place, of course we had discussed everything. My daughter was very organised, she’s a senior project manager for an international luxury designer brand. All of the last minute changes were a bid to get more money from us. The plantation is only getting bookings because of the previous owner who was lovely and the venue itself is beautiful. To be fair the new owner is fairly charming until he has your money. Six weeks before the wedding He added an additional €1500 villa hire charge and was constantly rude to the caterers we had to employ, demanding a bigger cut of their cost He tried telling us we could only use suppliers he recommended, 6 weeks before ours were already in place! Although table linen was included with the caterers, he tried to make us hire his instead. He pushed us to take on additional suppliers from him, which we did not need. He told us we needed to pay an additional charge of €30 per hour to use his speakers, which was previously included. He tried to say we had to vacate the inside of the venue by 10pm, everything was a constant battle, when we pushed back, he wouldn’t speak to us for a day or so. He made promises he could not keep, which caused last minute stress and worry to the distraught bride:- No white carpet, just a very scruffy grey one. He didn’t have enough chairs for guests to be seated at the ceremony but was going to leave us short, until this was spotted and provided by one of our suppliers. He told our caterers that they had to put the evening food out at 8pm instead of 10pm. We battled with him over this. The meal literally hadn’t finished until 7pm. He insisted the evening meat and cheese platters were all put on disposable platters that he could throw away, when he had decided we had had enough. We were on edge constantly, thinking at any minute, he would say “No wedding here” when we didn’t give in to his demands, he was aggressive and intimidating. On the day of t
