Hotel Romantik di Kyoto

Nicely located hotel with great amenities and a historical touch/feel. Love how it immerses itself in a busy district but still has all the privacy. The hospitality of the front desk could be improved but overall excellent.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. Situated in the heart of Kyoto, it's close to all the major attractions, restaurants, and transport links, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. Whether you’re walking to nearby temples or taking public transport to other parts of the city, you’re in the ideal spot. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Grand Bach Kyoto Select and will definitely be returning on my next visit to Kyoto. It's a top choice for anyone seeking comfort, convenience, and excellent service.

We hv a very terrible experience during our check-in. We booked as 2 adult and 1 kids in 7 months ago. When we checked in, the staff said the hotel had changed its policy and children is not welcome and it was not allowed to hv 3 ppl in a room. We hv a book additional room but the hotel was already fully booked. They could offer an upgrade to VIP room with only 100k yen per night. They said it was a expensive option, and it was fine if we didn't accept it. Of coz, we didn't cause that wasnt our fault. I said it was allowed to hv a child with us when we booked it. They said I need to give evidence for that. Luckily, my booking receipt showed ”Child is allowed if they can sleep in the same bed”. After checking, they said they gave us an exception and allowed my kid to stay with us this time. ”But next time, you need to book 2 rooms but u probably won't come again.” We are definitely not coming again. To be honest, the hotel has gd facilities and good location. Amazing views in the bar and common bath. I think if u were couple, it would be fine. But if any issue happens in ur booking, I don't think they would be helpful.

This was by far our favorite hotel in our 2 weeks in Japan. They were very nice and helpful, let us check in early, and made luggage forwarding easy. Plus, the room had lots of great amenities, including a balcony and an incredible tub (the microbubbles were a life saver after a long day of walking!) The face masks were a nice bonus, since my skin did not take to Japan very well. And breakfast was amazing, and served in the room, every morning. On top of all that, the location is amazing: overlooking the river, extremely close to Pontocho, only a few blocks from a major train station.

Beautiful hotel and good room size! It’s 10’ from train station if you dont mind walking. Roughly 8-10’ from a laundromat too. Very close to 7/11 which is amazing!! They also give you matcha tea set in the room, that’s really thoughtful. It’s not close to the tourist spots so that’s something to be mindful of. The only thing is there is only 2 slots for laundry, so you might have to queue a long time or to go another laundromat to get your stuff washed.

Highly recommended! The environment is pleasant, the service is excellent, and the staff are friendly and approachable. I am especially grateful to a Chinese counter staff member who helped us when my daughter experienced severe nose bleeding that lasted more than 45 minutes. We were extremely worried and reached out to the counter for assistance. She responded immediately, activated the ambulance, and stayed attentive throughout. The ambulance arrived quickly, and the medical staff were both kind and knowledgeable, guiding us on how to stop the bleeding. Thankfully, the bleeding stopped, and there was no need to visit the hospital. Additionally, the breakfast was a delightful experience, featuring special traditional dishes served in a private cubicle for each room. The hot spring was also unique, offering private rooms for a more intimate and relaxing experience.

I loved this hotel so much. Very affordable but amenities are the best. It is less than few minutes from Kyoto station (Hachijo exit not central exit) Entrance has relaxed resort atmosphere like you're in Hawaii. They have 2 buildings. They both have free coffee and drinks. One of their buildings has massage chairs which I used every night and community bath. You're allowed to walk around in Yukata (bathrobes) and slippers at this hotel so don't be surprised if you see many guests wearing them in public. Breakfast was excellent good selection of western and Asian food. Actually, it was more like branch I didn't have to eat until dinner, and it was perfect because you're busy all day with places to see. I would recommend going before 9am. Room is small if you're from the U.S but spotless and functional. If you at Kyoto station (Hachijo exit) cross the street If you see Ibis hotel, you're at the right place. 7 Eleven is right next to the hotel. Many restaurants and main bus stops are on the other side of Kyoto station (central exit) which is few minutes from this hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is conveniently located close to Umekoji train station, with the Umekoji park next to it. Hotel is spacious with plenty of communal space for family activities. Great place for family to chill out for a few days whilst exploring the greater Kyoto area.

The good stuff: hotel is clean. Traditional as they come. Location is great. The ryokan hasn't been renovated or upgraded since the 70's....but has been kept in a decent condition. Speaking English with the staff was a challenge. It took me like 40 minutes to make the staff understand I didn't want the room they put me in because it reeked of cigarette smoke. I wasn't thrilled with the ”10 course” meal. They should ask if guests have any kind of allergies for their own protection and the guests. The staff had language barriers to clearly explain what they were serving. Lastly, and most importantly, the noise from the room above was unacceptable. It was a family with young kids and the noise felt like elephants running above the ceiling. The room shook when they jumped up and down. Since you pay something like $500 bucks a night, they should address the noise problem. I did call and complained. But the staff didn't understand what I was saying or pretended to not understand.
