DataStreams Global Business Chair Yoon Suk-heon (DataStreams) |
Data governance solutions developer DataStreams said Tuesday it has appointed Yoon Suk-heon, chair of the Asian Economic Development Committee, as its global business chair to strengthen its leadership and strategy.
Yoon’s appointment marks a pivotal milestone in DataStreams’ journey, aligning with the quantum leap initiative unveiled in 2021 to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary.
Yoon, with over 35 years of experience leading international infrastructure projects and an extensive global network, is poised to play a vital role in global expansion. He emphasized his commitment to utilizing country-specific networks and implementing differentiated strategies to secure footholds in key international markets.
Yoon has played an instrumental role in Korea’s diplomatic normalization with China, the recovery of the Korea Ginseng Corp.'s flagship red ginseng brand Jung Kwan Jang's trademark from China and resolving an oilfield dispute between Sinopec and Gabon. Additionally, he played a crucial role in resolving the 2021 Korean tanker seizure incident with Iran, leveraging his network with top Iranian officials.
He has also held positions that include executive board member of the Korean Olympic Committee and adviser to major economic and policy organizations. Currently, he serves as chair of the Asia Economic Development Committee and is a top adviser for Middle Eastern and African projects with China Communications Construction Group, the world’s third-largest construction company.
Expanding into global markets has become a necessity for DataStreams to address the limitations of Korea’s software market, which remains relatively small and continues to grapple with a lack of awareness about intellectual property and software products.
The data solutions developer plans to leverage emerging trends in data and artificial intelligence technologies to meet growing global demand for data fabric-based digital transformation. By addressing critical issues such as digital sovereignty and the maturity of data utilization, the company aims to establish itself as a key player in the global data ecosystem.
Currently, DataStreams is engaged in discussions with countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Vietnam and Cambodia. The company is also formulating a road map to actively participate in nuclear power plant projects in these regions.
By integrating cutting-edge data and artificial intelligence with data fabric-based digital transformation, DataStreams aims to revolutionize the operational efficiency and safety of nuclear power plants, addressing long-standing challenges such as radiation exposure and accident prevention.
DataStreams expects that Yoon’s appointment will boost its global business development, leveraging existing projects like Malaysia’s MCMC project and Indonesia’s airport project to scale up into national-level initiatives.
