All domestic and international flights have been canceled after a deadly passenger aircraft accident at South Jeolla Province's Muan International Airport, which had caused the death of at least 62 passengers as of 12:09 p.m.
According to Korea Airports Corp., the check-in process for Jeju Air flight 7C341, scheduled to depart for Jeju Island at 10 a.m., had been halted.
Flights for Jin Air LJ467, scheduled for departure to Jeju Island at 1:35 p.m., and Cambodia Angkor Air flight KR542, scheduled for departure to Siem Reap in Cambodia at 4:50 p.m., were both canceled.
Additionally, Jeju Air flight 7C2215, scheduled to depart for Bangkok at 8:50 p.m., and Jin Air flight LJ747, scheduled to depart for Taipei, Taiwan, at 11:30 p.m., were also canceled.
All flights scheduled to arrive at Muan International Airport in the afternoon are to be canceled as well.
Earlier this morning, at 9:03 a.m., a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok, carrying 181 passengers and crew, caught fire following a suspected bird strike while landing at Muan Airport.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is coordinating rescue efforts with relevant agencies.
