Windhoek’s approved building plans hit N$1.92 billion Windhoek approved 1,875 building plans valued at N$1.92 billion in the past 12 months, marking a 2.8% year-on-year (y/y) decrease, data from IJG Securities shows. However, this represents a 26.4% y/y increase in value compared to the previous year. Namibian homebuyers to benefit from lower transfer duties The Namibian government's recent decision to increase the transfer duty threshold from N$600,000 to N$1.1 million is expected to stimulate buying activity in the property market. Fuel prices to remain unchanged in December The Ministry of Mines and Energy Namibia (MME) has announced that fuel prices in Namibia will remain unchanged for December 2024. This decision applies to both petrol and diesel variants (50ppm and 10ppm). Choppies fined for breaching competition law The Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC) has fined Choppies Supermarket Namibia Pty Ltd N$2.2 million for failing to notify the regulator of a merger involving Grootfontein Supermarket and Grootfontein Bottle Store.
